A life on the road personal story

Jackie Norman is a travel writer for Motorhomes, Caravans & Destinations magazine and lives on the road permanently after selling her house in 2016 to go in search of a simpler life. She is the author of My Van, My Castle.

Jackie has written an article that was published in stuff on Freedom Camping and staying in Holiday Parks and Camping Grounds.  She explains her many a journey (click below for full article).  Not all of her travels have been brilliant but we, The Camp, is very proud as we got a lovely mention along with a number of other Holiday Park so we invite you to have a read and if it is not your cup of tea skip to the end and read the last couple of lines.

Please note that The Camp is your quintessential Kiwi Camping experience.  We are beautifully basic and hot showers are included in your price.

Comments from Jackie:

"Fortunately, our negative campground experiences have been few and far between. We have stayed at many, many places which have offered far more in the way of facilities and value. Places such as:

- Kuaotunu Campground
- Hāwera Holiday Park
- Kiwi Holiday Park, Upper Hutt
- Murchison Motorhome Park
- The Camp, Lake Hāwea
- Manapōuri Motels & Holiday Park
- Hillview Campsite, Catlins
- Taieri Mouth Beach Holiday Camp

All these and more excel when it comes to providing a beautiful place to stay with great working facilities and above all, a warm welcome. Get these right, and you'll have our loyalty – and our money - time and time again.

NB: Prices everywhere are now going into peak season. For even better value, be sure to support these places off-peak too."  Jackie Norman
