Farm Tour Glen Dene Station

Enjoy a tour of a working farm at Glen Dene Station just minutes from The Camp, Lake Hawea

Glen Dene Station is set in one of the most stunning environments you will find anywhere. Be immersed in our unique landscapes and our way of life and experience an authentic farm tour adventure high above Lakes Wanaka and Hawea.

The Burdons have been farmers, fishermen and hunters all their lives, right back to 1929 when George Burdon bought Mt Burke Station with a goal to making it a high-country farm.

Traditionally the property successfully ran merino, sheep, deer and cattle and nowadays the farm continues to farm sheep, cattle and deer, as well as operating as a hunting operation during the hunting season.

Fifty years after its creation in 1929, the land was split in two, creating Mt Burke and Glen Dene Stations (the northern portion of the original station), with each portion farmed and operated separately.  Lesley and Jerry Burdon (Richard’s parents) moved to the undeveloped land and created Glen Dene Station as we know it today.

In 2001, Sarah and Richard Burdon took over the management of Glen Dene Station, making them the 3rd generation owners of the high country station. Situated just a few kilometres from The Camp and Lake Hawea, you will be transported up high into the New Zealand High Country, meet our animals, learn about our history, visit our beehives and explore the flora and fauna that make up this stunning land.

Wild walk and photography safaris can be arranged on request, as well as small group tours, retreats and adventures.

Come and enjoy a tour of this working South Island High Country Station and marvel at the wild landscape and sweeping views over Lake Hawea, you simply can’t get elsewhere. This is the first time this stunning property has been made available publically, outside of hunting, making this tour and exclusive opportunity to see this unique landscape.
